The PRS2100 is the benchtop table that works the way a full-size table does. The fence is the reason: two aluminum faces that slide independently, so you can offset the outfeed face a few thousandths and edge-joint on the router table. The insert plate sits on Level-Loc rings that you turn to bring it flush with the top, which takes about a minute instead of an afternoon with shims.
It was about $299 at the time of writing. Mount a Bosch 1617EVS in it and you have a setup that will do raised panels, dovetail joints, and flush-trim work for years. If you later want a lift, the Kreg PRS5000 drops into the same opening. Our best wood routers guide covers the motors that fit it.
Our Pick
The best benchtop router table for most shops. A 16 x 24 in. laminated MDF top, an aluminum fence with independently adjustable faces, and an insert plate with Level-Loc rings that drops in flush without shims.
Anyone who wants a router table that sets up square out of the box and stays flat. Cabinet builders, furniture makers, and small shops that cannot give a full-size table floor space.
What we don't like
About $299 at the time of writing is $100 more than the Bosch RA1181. The top is 16 x 24 in., which is smaller than the Bosch's 27 x 18. No router, no lift, and the plate is not predrilled for every router.
