Holiday Island is a planned recreation community on the Table Rock arm of the White River a few miles north of Eureka Springs — a hillside of ordinary, comfortable homes with golf courses, a marina, and water access, priced meaningfully below both the Historic Loop and the Beaver Lake waterfront for the same bedrooms. It's the value tier, and it doesn't pretend otherwise.

The practicality is the product: level driveways, full kitchens, garages, and space — everything the Victorian hillside tier charmingly lacks. Multi-generation groups and longer stays land here because the house works like a house, ten minutes from town instead of forty steps above a parking pull-off.

The golf is real — the community runs its own courses, including a well-known island-hole par three — and the marina puts boats, the river arm, and Table Rock's upper water within an easy morning. It's not the bluff-cove postcard of Beaver Lake proper, but it's genuine Ozark water at a genuine discount.

Know what you're trading: Holiday Island is residential-quiet, with limited dining of its own, so evenings mean cooking in or the short drive to town. For groups whose trip is town-days and porch-nights, that's no trade at all — it's the reason the math works.

East of Eureka Springs the Ozarks empty out fast, and the Kings River country is where the seclusion tier lives — cabins on wooded ridges and river bottoms where the nearest neighbor is a pasture away and the night sky is the amenity. The Kings is a free-flowing Ozark river, undammed, winding through bluffs and gravel bars toward Table Rock.

The cabins here sell privacy the way Beaver Lake sells docks: acreage, ridge-top views, fire pits, and hot tubs facing the woods rather than a driveway. It's the tier for writing weeks, honeymoons that don't want an itinerary, and anyone whose ideal trip report is 'we saw nobody.'

The river itself is a paddler's and smallmouth angler's water — float trips on the Kings run gravel-bar to gravel-bar through genuinely undeveloped country, and spring's higher water is the prime float season. Because it's free-flowing, summer levels can drop too low to float; check conditions rather than assuming, and treat a low-water August as a hiking-and-hot-tub trip instead.

Plan the logistics like the countryside it is: cell service goes patchy in the hollows, gravel-road final miles are common, and the grocery run happens in town on the way in. None of that is a flaw — it's the fence that keeps this tier quiet — but it rewards the pantry-packed arrival.
